The Holroyd Community Theatre, near Oswestry, is a theatre for everyone: a community theatre for North Shropshire and the Welsh borders at Moreton Hall.
The Holroyd Community Theatre exists to advance education in the Arts and to provide facilities in the interests of social and cultural welfare to promote drama, music, dance and the arts (generally for the benefit of the North Shropshire and Welsh border communities), and for Moreton Hall.
Owing to the generosity and support of founding patrons Bill and Julie Holroyd, this 240 seat professional theatre will be built (in 2018 – 2019) overlooking the grounds at Moreton Hall and will be used by the school as a main drama facility.
Facilities at Moreton are continually shared with local groups and the school actively welcomes community use on a regular basis.
It is a founding aim of the Holroyd Community Theatre that it is not just a school theatre but is accessible to everyone in the local community. Alongside a professional theatre programme of events taking place throughout the year, the theatre facility will be used regularly by local community and charity groups, amateur drama societies and arts organisations.
The theatre will also be utilised by surrounding primary and secondary schools developing existing links established through Face2Face Performance Academy and the school’s regular theatre in education programmes within the local schools’ community.
